The Final Countdown

Final As we write this blog we are very excited to be only 5 days away from boarding our plane taking us to Heathrow airport via Doha. It’s always mixed feelings leaving the team that we love and cherish so much; the people we do life with every day, and of course wee Meg and Ruby, our beautiful little dogs. But I’m sure our Khmer brothers and sisters will understand how much it means to us to see our parents, our brothers and sisters, our nephews and nieces, our aunts and uncles and of course our friends.

It really is a busy time ahead, we have a jam-packed itinerary speaking in lots of churches and visiting groups and people to share about the work we are involved in. We love doing this because it helps build the support we need to carry out the work.  It isn’t easy at times but we are blessed when we share about Cambodia and see people falling in love with the work we are privileged to be a part of.

Last week we put in our itinerary for church speaking but we felt it would be good to share it again.  There is one very important amendment to what we posted last week; we will be speaking in the morning service at Bangor Elim on Sunday 26th June.  We are not sure at the minute if there will be a supper on the Sunday night but will let you know closer to the time.

This week we have witnessed a couple of exciting developments.  The first is we have recently watched Dren, one of our church men, grow even more in his walk with God. On Sunday Dren brought God’s word to the men’s meeting in a confident, spirit-filled way. If you know Dren you would recognise the transformation that has taken place in six weeks, from a very shy person with no belief that God could use him to preaching a sermon in a confident but humble way. What an encouragement to see our team develop in front of our eyes, God is preparing us for a great move of the spirit and we can’t wait!

The second piece of wonderful news is we received permission to start another village ministry/church plant in a new province. On Monday we met with the district governor and again we seen great favour on us as we instantly had a good relationship with him. He signed off on everything meaning not only can we plant in the village we have chosen but also any other village in the district. We again thank you for your prayers in this!

Please keep praying for Sophea’s family, her Father had a tumour removed from his colon yesterday and will now await results of tests to determine if the cancer was contained to the colon.  We appreciate you standing with us in prayer as we wait, trusting God for healing, peace and most importantly salvation for all their family as they realise that Jesus is their Saviour.  Sarak is in Bangkok with Sophea’s parents which is a huge support for them.

Please also pray for our dear friend Maureen Crawford who has injured her back by breaking a vertebrae in her spine, as you know Maureen lost her wonderful husband Bill recently and this comes at a very difficult time for her.  We need to lift her up in prayer for healing, comfort and peace; she is a wonderful person who we love very much.

Thank you to everyone for all your birthday wishes, especially my beautiful wife for spoiling me so much on Thursday.  I love doing life with you especially here in Phnom Penh.

Finally as we will be moving from place to place over the next five weeks we won’t be able to do a blog as such, if you are on Facebook please join our group “David and Esther in Cambodia”. We will give regular updates as we go along and hopefully we will get to meet you somewhere on our journey. We will blog again on Saturday 16th July God bless you all.
